I love this Weaving Wisdom podcast episode! Carrie and Rhiannon are deeply connected to reclaiming our heart-centered way of relating to ourselves and the natural world. These women take us in to what it means to be a Gridworker with laughter and humility, using real-life examples of their individual restoration practices. Beautiful!!

Hahahahahaha I LOVE that you cited the CHEETOS!!! Recognition is the first step — mindfulness begins with noticing when we are opting to check out. The next step is being able to identify the trigger that’s making us want to check out!

And then —when we are ready — we can opt to pause (sometimes before we bite into the first Cheeto, sometimes after we have eaten a fistful of Cheetos!) to breathe into that discomfort, without judging ourselves for having gone the Cheetos route — tho if the judgment arises, we can simply breathe into that too.

In that pause, we are telling our souls that we are ready to feel whatever we have been avoiding. If we keep breathing and feeling without buying into the stories our brain wants to tell us, that’s when our real healing begins. Without the stories, it only takes 90 seconds for an emotion to pass through us. Funny right? Only 90 seconds! Seems such a short interval, yet our brains make it into such a big deal.

And that’s when the miracles happen, for we have just freed ourselves up from something a younger version of ourselves could not process at the time. What a gift!

Thank you Pat for your kind words and delightfully honest truth! Next time you reach for the Cheeto, you can try just observing what’s going on for you in that moment. I’d you can name it, you’re already halfway there. The breathing is the other half. 💜💜💜

Oh my goodness, you two, what a beautiful conversation! Rhiannon, your gift of holding a safe space for exploration and expansion is truly a gift, and Carrie, you brought up so many new ways for me to see and feel and receive Source...I got goosebumps when you pulled over on the way to your hike (such trust!) and I love that you mentioned your limitation for Joy. I can totally relate. I feel like I'm coming away from this with so much to process and assimilate. Thank you both so much for showing up with so much truth, honesty, and vulnerability.

Oh Emily, that is a high compliment — I love that it resonates with you, thank you! And thank you too for sharing that you got goosebumps about the pulling over to the side of the road — I hadn’t seen it as an act of trust (due to still being somewhat annoyed about it 😄) but that reframe is so helpful, and you’re right: regardless of my annoyance and rebellion, I did trust enough to actually do it…and then to stay for three hours-!! But just recognizing that I still am holding some annoyance about is making me realize I need to revisit that moment and do some releasing and self-forgiveness work — so again, thank you, I think your soul recognized that and knew I needed a heads-up. 💜🙏
